More than 2,250 cases of Covid-19 recovery were recorded during the second week of July, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health.

This evolution is explained in particular by the healing of asymptomatic people at the level of the Lalla Mimouna home (province of Kenitra), underlined the interim head of the communication division at the Ministry of Health, Jamila Jbili, in a weekly statement on the epidemiological situation until Wednesday July 15 at 6:00 p.m.

It noted that the age of people affected by the virus varies between 30 and 55 years and that new cases were detected thanks to the screening operation launched by the Ministry of Health in industrial units, in a context marked by the return to work after the reduction of sanitary confinement.

Regarding the evolution of laboratory achievements at the national level, Ms. Jbili said that their capacities were strengthened from May with the adoption of the early detection strategy. The number of tests has been revised upwards to around 20,000 tests each day, for a total of 1,128,190 tests to date.

The official also pointed out that following the sudden increase in confirmed cases in the city of Tangier and the appearance of epidemic foci that caused several cases of death, the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Tale, carried out in company of local authorities and heads of health services in the region, two visits to learn about the health situation in the city.

And to continue that the ministry has consolidated its health supply at the regional level with the provision of new medical and technical equipment for all hospitals.

The capacity of Mohammed VI hospital, which receives critical cases, has in fact been increased from 14 to 29 beds. The facility also has 30 artificial respirators, 20 oxygen machines, additional batches of medication, in addition to the appointment of 9 resuscitation doctors and 50 nurses, she said.

On another register, Ms. Jbili indicated that from next week, part of the weekly statement will be devoted to answering citizens’ questions via the “WhatssApp” application, explaining that it is send short videos or audios no longer than 40 seconds to the number “0761855020”.

At the same time, she insisted on the imperative to respect the four main preventive measures, namely, respect for physical distance, wearing a protective mask, frequent washing of hands with soap and water for 40 seconds or with an alcoholic solution for 20 seconds, as well as the download of the “wiqaytna” application with the continuous activation of Bluetooth.

For chronic diseases and their relationship to the Covid-19 pandemic, the official called on people with diabetes, asthma, renal and cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and cancer to respect their treatment system coupled with a healthy lifestyle while ensuring frequent hand washing and disinfection as well as compliance with barrier measures.
