Numbers never lie. And even if we lie about the numbers, they remain so relentless that they end up betraying us and betraying our lies. Isn’t that right, Minister of Health?
The figures communicated by the Ministry of Health on a daily basis could not be more eloquent. They are saying out loud what all health executives want to deny. They say that the services of the Ministry of Health are still not able to take care of, as they should, the patients of the Covid and even less, the epidemic as such.
Indeed, the figures show that despite a decrease, if only relative, in the numbers of cases and deaths, the fact remains that the number of hospitalized patients and especially, those admitted to intensive care, or put on artificial respirators are increasing, every day a little more.
This means that the enlightenment of Health in Tunisia is still unable to set up a system for the early detection and treatment of patients with Covid, so that they are diagnosed very late, at a later date. stage where one is obliged to admit more and more important numbers in the services and especially, those of the intensive care.
Everyone now knows that the chances of recovery decrease very quickly as the disease progresses. While at the very start of the contagion, we could very easily, with treatment at the patient’s home, get him out of the woods. As the disease progresses a little further and lung damage sets in, its condition requires hospitalization and, at a more advanced stage of the disease, hospitalization in intensive care and putting on life support.
Moral of the story, the enlightenment of the Ministry of Health should recover and question their strategy. They must learn the lessons that should be learned from the figures they themselves are publishing, to understand that their care system, particularly in terms of early detection and care is failing. and that they should review their copy. Because, it is good to publish figures, it is always necessary to know how to interpret and use them as it should.
But since they are very far from being ready to question themselves and since it is a question of life and death for thousands of citizens, it is up to the government to put an end to this charade and to the hecatomb they are committing.
