Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has published data regarding the spread of Mpox or Monkey Pox in Indonesia. There are at least 88 confirmed cases of Mpox in 2022-2024.

“In Indonesia in 2022 there will be one confirmed case of Mpox, in 2023 there will be 74 confirmed cases, and in 2024 there will be 14 confirmed cases. In total for 2022-2024, 88 cases,” said Plt. Director General of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Ministry of Health, Yudhi Pramono in a press conference, Sunday (18/8/2024).

2023 will see the highest number of Mpox cases in the country. During that year, the highest number of cases occurred in October 2023 with 12 cases.

Whole genome sequencing was also performed on 53 Mpox patients. The result is clade 2b, and there is no disease with the great clade 1b variability that has spread in Africa and other countries.

From his presentation, DKI Jakarta has 59 confirmed cases. Meanwhile, West Java has 13 confirmed cases. Banten with 9 confirmed cases, Yogyakarta with three confirmed cases and East Java with three confirmed cases. In addition, there is one confirmed case in the Riau Islands.

Of the 88 cases, 87 patients were declared cured. One patient diagnosed in June is in remission. “Things have gone downhill. The last time was April and… [kasus konfirmasi] “June is in the healing process,” he said.

At the same time, 99,176 cases of Mpox were detected worldwide from 2022-June 2024. Deaths from this disease reached 208 deaths.
