At the moment the Sinovac vaccine is the only one that will be applied to children between 5 and 11 years of age, as reported by the Ministry of Health, since, although since the beginning of the month, the use of the Pfizer dose for minors was authorized from the Invima, there are no plans to acquire new batches from that pharmaceutical company.

“There is not going to be in the short term and Pfizer vaccine for children is not being contemplated, which they ask us everywhere. A different biological presentation was established in doses for children and at this moment we are not in the process of purchasing this biological and, therefore, the only vaccine for children is the Sinovac vaccine “, indicated the director of Promotion and Prevention of the Ministry of Health, Gerson Bermont, after a consultation that was made on the subject in the television newscast Noticias Caracol.

In that media they recalled that the deliveries of batches of vaccines by Pfizer have already been completed and that those that are arriving in the country are donations. For this reason, they will only be available to pregnant women who are waiting to complete their schedules with the doses of that pharmaceutical company.

“We have some problems because there were some territories that used the vaccines that we had sent for pregnant women, they spent the first doses of the population that did not correspond and we are going to comply with them, but, please, they put us in trouble. They have already announced a donation of 2,400,000 for the last week of the year, that is, we will have a Pfizer vaccine by the beginning of the year “Bermont noted on that newscast.

In this way, the Ministry of Health detailed that the application of the vaccines from the different pharmaceutical houses would be carried out as follows:

Sinovac: for children from 3 to 11 years old.

Pfizer: for pregnant women and those who require second doses.

Janssen: for the population over 18 years of age and the migrant population.

AstraZeneca: It will be applied to those over 18 years of age, to migrants and to people who require reinforcements.

Modern: It will be available for the population between 12 and 17 years of age and to complete regimens with second doses.
