The Ministry of Health Continues to Strive to Reduce the Death Rate Due to Dengue

Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) targets to reduce mortality due to dengue. The national targets are stated in the Draft Regulation of the Minister of Health (RPM) and the National Strategy for Dengue Management (Stranas).

“The target is to reduce the number of cases of death to 0.2% in 2030. Then also reduce the national incidence rate to less than 37/100,000 population in 2030,” said the Director of Prevention and Control of Vector and Zoonotic Diseases, Directorate General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health, Didik Budijanto, in a virtual discussion, Thursday (10/6/2021).

The Ministry of Health is also targeting in 2020-2024 to increase the percentage of districts/cities that have incidents rate Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is less than 49 per 100,000 population.

This increase is targeted to be at least 5% annually. Successively in 2020 it has reached 70%, 2021 to 75%, in 2022 it will increase to 80%, then 85% in 2023, and to 90% in 2024.

“Of course, this target will be our PR (homework) together. To achieve this target, the RPM and Stranas include 6 strategies, one of which is strengthening effective, safe, and sustainable vector control, this is the spearhead of the dengue control strategy,” said Didik.

According to him, the term dengue is different from dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). The term DHF is a small part of dengue. DHF is severe dengue.

In simple terms, dengue includes several diseases, one of which is called DHF. Meanwhile, the public has been more familiar with the socialization of dengue prevention.

This will begin to change with the socialization of dengue prevention because what needs to be handled is all dengue diseases ranging from mild to severe.

“If we are going to tackle DHF, it means tackling the severe ones, even though the mild ones are worried that they will turn into severe ones,” concluded Didik.
