The ministry also encourages the creation of a shopping list to keep shopping as short as possible. It also encourages you to go shopping less often, buying goods for a longer period of time.

The Ministry reminds that the sick should not visit shopping places.

As reported, on these and other holidays and public holidays until the end of the emergency, shopping centers in Latvia will operate in a restricted mode, but large stores for construction goods, household goods and furniture will be closed, the government has decided to declare a state of emergency.

During the emergency situation, from November 9 to December 6, only grocery stores, pharmacies, veterinary pharmacies and animal feed stores will be open in shopping centers on weekends and public holidays. The shopping centers will also have bookstores, press outlets, optical stores, hygiene goods stores, as well as telecommunications goods service points.

In addition to the decision taken at the extraordinary government meeting on Friday evening, shops such as Jysk, the Price Club and others located in shopping malls will also be closed on weekends and public holidays. In turn, the operation of hygiene goods stores, such as “Drogas”, will be allowed both in shopping centers and outside them.

During an emergency, stores such as “Depo”, “K-Senukai”, “Kurši”, “Ikea” and others with a total sales area of ​​more than 10,000 square meters may not be open on weekends and public holidays. On the other hand, if the area of ​​the stores is less than 10,000 square meters, their operation is allowed.

The MoE pointed out that the operation of stores with an area of ​​less than 10,000 square meters is not restricted and such stores may sell the widest and most diverse assortment of goods.
