Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) claims 90 percent of health workers (nakes) who have been exposed to corona virus (Covid-19) has recovered.
Director of Prevention and Control of Directly Infectious Diseases (P2PML) of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that the recovery was one of the positive impacts of the Covid vaccination that health workers had received.
“Vaccines do not protect against transmission, so there will definitely be those who are infected. But now they are 90 percent healthy and have returned to work,” Nadia said to CNNIndonesia.com, Thursday (24/6).
Nadia did not explain in detail the number of health workers who were positive for Covid-19. He also did not explain the detailed number of health workers who had recovered.
Even so, Nadia admitted that her party would continue to improve infection prevention and control in every health care facility (Fasyankes).
“Regular disinfection must continue to be carried out,” he said.
Nadia also appealed to the public to help minimize the potential for the spread of the virus, both at the hospital and outside. He said people should reduce mobility, avoid crowds and not refuse to be vaccinated.
“We love our health workers, who have been fighting for 1.5 years on the battlefield against COVID-19. Public cooperation is urgently needed at this time,” he said.
Unlike Nadia, the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) recorded that 61 doctors died after being exposed to Covid-19 during February-May 2021. A total of 14 of them are known to have received a dose of the corona virus vaccine.
Head of the Mitigation Team for the IDI Executive Board, Adib Khumaidi, detailed that 10 people had received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 4 others had only received one dose. While the other 47 doctors who died had not been vaccinated because they did not meet the vaccine requirements because they had comorbidities.
“Our data is from February 23 percent of doctors who died have been vaccinated. So of the 61 doctors, only 14 have been vaccinated, the others have not,” Adib said when contacted. CNNIndonesia.com, Wednesday (23/6).
Adib also revealed that reports of doctor deaths due to exposure to Covid-19 also increased in June 2021. In the third week, he had received nearly 20 doctors who died.
In fact, in April-May 2021 there were only under 10 people. So, cumulatively, 374 doctors have died from Covid-19 so far.
