Due to the uncertain security situation, diplomats and workers from various Western countries are also leaving Afghanistan in a hurry. With the Taliban besieging Kabul and preparing to take control of the whole of Afghanistan, the West is rushing to evacuate both its citizens and the Afghans who have worked with them.
Latvian Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks (AP) has asked to identify those Afghan citizens who have assisted the Latvian mission in Afghanistan and to consider granting them asylum.
According to Pabriks, there may be up to 15 families in danger in Afghanistan when the Islamist group “Taliban” comes to power.
