The Ministry of Defense plans to build new training grounds, missile sites and anti-hail generators – 2024-10-24 08:18:00

Western experts spoke about the French and Spanish attempts to combat the atmospheric disaster

We plan to implement ground generators with silver iodide during active hail protection. In two areas of the country, where it is not allowed to use rockets and aircraft, we will build a network of generators. This was shared by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Ivan Kapitanov during a meeting with Claude Berthe, director of the National Association for Research and Combating Atmospheric Disasters (ANELFA) in France and the specialist in this field Prof. José Luis Sánchez from the University of Leon. Spain. The meeting was also attended by representatives of state institutions, scientific and branch organizations in the agriculture sector. He also commented that this is why we are now studying the experience of other countries so that we can introduce this protective method in the most effective way.

During the meeting, Claude Berthe and Prof. Luis Sanchez presented the French and Spanish experience in the fight against the hailstones by using the generators. They emphasized that this method, approved by the World Meteorological Organization, has been successfully used in France and Spain in areas where airspace is limited, making traditional rocket and aircraft methods inapplicable. When applying it, up to 40% reduction in hail energy is observed, which is directly related to damage to agricultural production. In addition, the method is more economical and easy to implement as it does not require highly skilled personnel and can be used in urbanized areas without airspace restrictions.

Deputy Minister Kapitanov informed that a working group has been formed in the Ministry of Agriculture, which works in close cooperation with the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology and other institutions involved in the fight against hail. Experts report the climate changes that have occurred and the frequent extreme natural phenomena.

He also announced that the construction of new ranges and missile sites is planned in the areas that are not currently protected by the missile method. “We plan to build 25 new missile sites that will expand the range of existing command posts. In addition, we will create a new protected zone with 28 missile sites,” explained Kapitanov. The Deputy Minister thanked the director and experts from ANELFA for the shared experience and good practices, expressing hope that close cooperation in the field of anti-hail protection will continue in the future. During their visit to our country, Claude Berthe and Prof. Sanchez will visit command posts and missile sites of the system
