The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation destroyed the last warship of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation: What is left of the Ukrainian fleet!? – 2024-09-17 00:22:58

/ world today news/ The Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed the last warship of Ukraine “Yuri Olefirenko”

What was the medium amphibious ship “Yuriy Olefirenko” (named after the captain of the first rank killed in Donbas – a Banderov) that was destroyed at the end of May by Russian missiles in Odessa, and what was left of the Ukrainian fleet at all – KP asked the captain of the first rank from the Vasiliy Dandikin reserve.

THE LAST POLISH LANDING

– The ship “Yuri Olefirenko” was destroyed in a strike near Odessa. Was he a real force in the Black Sea?

– This ship occupied an intermediate position between small and large landing ships. It is made in Poland. In general, the Poles made us almost all the large landing ships /BDK/. Yes, we also had landing craft of our own construction – like the one the Nazis sank in Berdyansk. Well, there were also such SDK /medium landing ships/ from the Poles.

– Was it a good ship?

– For their time, for solving local problems in regional seas, such as the Baltic or the Black Sea, they were ideal. It takes on board a company of marines and four T-72 or 6 fighter jets. It had a displacement of more than two thousand tons. During its time, it performed all the necessary functions. And on the Northern Sea Route he could deliver cargo to all the ports there.

– This ship is said to have been involved in the Egyptian-Israeli conflict in the early 1970s?

– Yes, and it seems that in the early 70s, it was from his side that the Israeli “Phantom” was shot down. I heard this story. I know we had a minesweeper whose commander received a Red Flag for shooting down an American plane in that war. And he wasn’t the only one. The Black Sea Fleet actively participated in this conflict in 1973, at the height of the Israeli-Egyptian war.

What weaponry did it have?

– SDK-137 had twin AK-230 anti-aircraft guns, and in addition to the guns, there was a MANPADS “Strela 3” – it was possible to take down almost any air target from the ship. And there was a naval version of the “Katyusha” that could support the descent of the landing party from the water.

WHAT KYIV GOT IN 2014

– Why did they give it to the Ukrainians in 2014?

– Ukrainians then received BDK “Konstantin Olshansky” and this SDK, which Ukrainians first called “Kirovgrad”. Of course, Kiev could not go with them to the Atlantic Ocean. They quickly renamed everything, this SDK-137 was transferred to Odessa and renamed “Yuri Olefirenko”. First he went to Nikolaev, where they then sank the “Hetman Sagaidachny”, and then to Odessa.

– And if he was sent by landing to Sevastopol or Evpatoria?

– This would definitely be a one-way trip. Well, he is slow-moving, slow.

– But can the British cutters keep it?

– The British were about to transfer mine sweepers to Kiev – but how to drag them along the Danube? It’s not realistic.

– So what is left in the Ukrainian fleet?

– There’s what they’re running now – British naval drones. They have been using them for the last 7-8 months. They also talked about the creation of a full-fledged marine corps brigade. But one was almost completely destroyed in Mariupol, the second was smashed in the Kherson region, near Nikolaev. Then they tried to reshape something from the remains, we made new “scary” chevrons… And their small landing ships “Zubr” ended up, I think, in Greece.

– That is, the SDK was the last relatively large ship in the relatively existing fleet of Ukraine?

– This is a third-rate ship that was upgraded to second-rate. How they transferred “Hetman Sagaidachni” from the second rank to the first. They also had Gyurza armored riverboats. Well, they have perhaps a dozen more diversionary vessels that the Americans brought to them by land or on the Danube.

THEY DON’T NEED THE TURKISH COAST

– Aren’t the Turks helping them now with new ships?

– No. Now our Black Sea Fleet is the master of the Black Sea.

– And where is the famous Turkish corvette?

– He never came to Ukraine. And where to go – they blocked the bay with their flood “Hetman Sagaidachny” – in Nikolaev. And the Turks still only built the hull. Yes, it is not bad at all in terms of characteristics, but it is inferior to our corvettes, it has a displacement of about 2100 tons, and the missile weapons had to be delivered and installed in the Nikolaev shipyards.

– How much did it cost?

– Two to three hundred million dollars. Britain provided a loan for this corvette.

– Did the Ukrainians really mine the entire Northern Black Sea coast?

– Yes, from Odessa to Nikolaev. But they have such shoddy information, they don’t even have detailed maps of their own minefields. They only cleared one corridor for the ships from the grain deal – that’s all.
