According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Easter goods, such as eggs or pom-poms, are prohibited goods on this holiday season and should therefore not appear on store shelves due to government restrictions. However, shops offer them and invoke the exception. The news server was alerted to the situation by the News List.
“Easter needs do not fall within the exceptions specified in the relevant government resolution, which restricts retail sales. The enforcement of the adopted anti-crisis measures is within the competence of the Police of the Czech Republic,” stated for the north Miluše Trefancová, spokesperson for the Ministry.
The shops are defended by the fact that the Association of Trade and Tourism of the Czech Republic (SOCR CR) has allowed them to sell Easter decorations. For example, according to the Bill chain, this type of goods falls into the section of reverential goods and decorative goods for festive occasions and, with an exception, may be sold.
However, according to the Seznam Zprávy server, the document provided by SOCR to traders and which lists the exceptions that can be sold is revised before the announcement of a stricter lockdown. The shops would thus follow the old provision, which previously allowed, for example, the sale of children’s shoes or the operation of a stationery store, which is no longer possible.
The DM drugstore included the Easter assortment in domestic needs instead of in reverential goods. “According to the SOCR recommendations, Easter decorations can be included in the category of household goods. Sales in this category have not been restricted. Customers can purchase this type of assortment in DM stores,” said Jiří Peroutka, communications manager.
Easter decorations are also sold, for example, by the Albert chain, which also confirmed this information to the server.
