Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population, led the development of the Al-Khanka Mental Health Hospital on an area of ​​170 acres, to become the first integrated medical city for mental health, addiction. treatment, and old people in Egypt.

This came during the inspection visit of the Minister today, Monday, together with Engineer Ayman Attia, the Governor of Qalyubia, to continue the progress of work in the hospital and review the medical services provided to patients.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman of the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the hospital, after its development, will include all curative, preventive and oncology services, as well as mental health and addiction services, with a total capacity of 1,800 beds, including 300 beds for curative and preventive services, 2 serial accelerators for oncology treatment, and 1,500 beds for mental health services.

The Minister began his visit by inspecting the hospital’s outpatient clinics building, which includes psychiatric clinics for adults and children, to ensure the availability and consistency of medical staff. of work, as the clinics receive around 300 patients per day.

The Minister inspected the hospital’s main pharmacy and reviewed the medication distribution system and availability, as shortages of some medications were found. The Minister immediately contacted the United Purchasing Authority of Egypt to provide the required medicines, and asked hospital officials to follow up on the matter.

The Minister also reviewed the consistency of pharmacy work at the hospital, which includes 25 pharmacists, and inspected one of the buildings under construction which includes patient clinics. -outside, administrative building, and housing for doctors. The Minister led the investigation into establishing an emergency hospital to provide advanced medical services to patients without needing to be transferred to other hospitals.

The minister also inspected the harm reduction unit, observation rooms, investment and harem departments, electroconvulsive therapy rooms, and the addiction treatment department.

The hospital’s capacity is 1,400 beds, and it includes clinics that serve patients in the internal department, such as dentistry, internal medicine, dermatology, surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, and nose and throat clinics. Addiction, psychology, harm reduction, viruses, and community medicine clinics, finding proof of disability, as well as radiology services and brain rhythm management unit.

The Minister wanted to talk to patients visiting the clinics, the observation rooms, and the addiction treatment department, and he listened to their requests and led work to implement them.
