Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, announced the medical insurance plan for the House of Representatives elections 2020, to be held on the 24th and 25th of this October, in coordination with the National Elections Authority, in the context of keenness to pay attention to public health and to take all preventive and precautionary measures to preserve Citizens’ health, in conjunction with state measures to limit the spread of the new Corona virus.
The Minister stressed the need to adhere to taking all precautionary and preventive measures against the Coronavirus during the electoral process, to adhere to health conditions inside the electoral facilities and headquarters throughout the election period, to observe social distancing between voters, and not to crowd inside the election committees, in addition to the commitment of citizens to wear masks while casting their votes. .
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Adviser to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson for the ministry, explained that
A total of 1,411 ambulances were equipped with all the governorates of the Republic, in addition to 11 river ambulances that are distributed to the electoral headquarters and the governorates of the Republic.
He pointed out that the minister directed the meeting of the Crisis and Emergency Chamber at the Ministry’s general office during this period to follow up the implementation of the medical insurance plan for the elections over the 24 hours, which is linked to the sub-operation rooms with the health directorates in the governorates, stressing the continuous coordination between the ministry and the governors, health directorates, and health insurance And the National Elections Authority, and the medical teams present at the headquarters of the committees, in order to quickly respond to any emergency, and to submit a real-time report to the Minister of all developments.
He pointed out the need for observers to wear masks throughout their work period, and good ventilation of the electoral commission halls, where open spaces are preferred and not to use air conditioning devices, in addition to following infection control instructions in disinfecting all halls designated for the electoral process and disinfecting surfaces exposed to contact and toilets, and taking into account the distances between Voters during entry, and the publication of instructional signs and awareness of transmission methods and procedures

Mujahid added that a thermal scan is being made at the door of the electoral commission to exclude those who suffer from high temperature or any respiratory symptoms (coughing and shortness of breath) and to direct the suspects to the nearest medical facility, pointing out that the minister directed the availability of trained medical teams inside the electoral headquarters in all governorates of the Republic. To provide adequate medical services to voters and citizens.
Mujahid added that if a voter, observer, or employee is suspected of being injured inside the electoral headquarters, he is transferred to the nearest hospital to assess his health condition, take the necessary measures, and give treatment, and the health administration or the medical district is informed of the suspected case to take preventive measures and follow up the case and its course. And follow-up of contacts in case of infection for two weeks.
Mujahid confirmed that the minister reviewed the availability of sufficient stocks of medicines and medical supplies in hospitals in all governorates of the Republic, indicating the availability of stocks of blood and its derivatives from all factions in the blood centers and banks of the ministry in all governorates of the republic, where blood balances amounted to 20 thousand and 838 bags of blood from the factions Various, 69 thousand and 127 blood plasma bags.
He pointed to raising the degree of readiness to the utmost in all public and central hospitals, and the intensification of the presence of medical teams, including doctors, technicians, and nursing in hospital emergency departments, pointing to the prevention of vacations for hospital workers, especially emergency departments, burns, and toxins, in addition to full coordination with university hospitals in each governorate.
