Forero, a representative of the Democratic Center, alluded to the fact that by 23 August the Minister of Health had indicated in a speech that 873 thousand vaccines against covd-19 would expire in September 2022.

“On that day, August 23, she said they would take the corresponding resolution to change what was in effect and allow the second reinforcement for people aged 18 to 49,” the representative said during the debate.

Subsequently, he recalled a statement by Geison Bermont, director of promotion and prevention of the Ministry of Health of the government of Iván Duque, who had indicated on August 26 that “next week we will announce the application of the second booster dose for the population aged 18 at the age of 49, this will be given by the signing of the resolution by the minister ”.

Forero assured, in Commission VII of the Chamber, that three weeks after the announcement of the Ministry of Health, the resolution was not signed and there are 873,000 biologicals against covid-19 that have ceased to be applied and would be close to expiry. According to known information, there are 787,530 Sinovac vaccines; 72,751 Pfizer; 11,356 Jenssen and 2,070 modern vaccines.

On the questions, the Minister of Health, Carolina cork, said he was not obliged to sign a resolution that came from the previous government. He also stressed the absence of the “Primary Health Care Program”, which prevented 400 municipalities from achieving the goals of vaccination and they were left behind.

“This is more serious than what I have seen from civil society, because the goal that Dr. Duque’s government had set was that 70 percent of the population should be vaccinated by December. That goal was not achieved because in those 400 municipalities not even 70 percent was reached. That’s what I get, “Corcho replied.

For now, it is not known whether the Ministry of Health will sign the resolution by which the population between 18 and 49 will be able to access the second dose booster against covid-19.
