The Minister of Economy promised predictability and stability for business

In recent years, business predictability and stability have been lacking. I set it as one of the main priorities, the new Economy Minister Bogdan Bogdanov said on Sunday. He led the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BAI) during the “Petkov” cabinet and the last official government. The minister added that a lot of effort should be made to normalize the tone between institutions, as well as between institutions and businesses.

I will not do a cleaning, but process optimization

From day one, I have ordered a full analysis of the various activities and the problems facing us, the minister said. “I don’t plan to do purges, but to optimize certain processes that either don’t work or aren’t efficient enough,” Bogdanov said.

Asked how he survived and retained his position as the head of BAI during his official tenure after being appointed by the “Petkov” cabinet, Bogdanov stated that it was due to the results achieved. He pointed out that he has increased investments in the country by 70 percent.

According to him, the transfer of power from the official cabinet to the regular cabinet did not go as it should. Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov himself has already seen the planned sabotage.

“One of the reasons was the release of the deputy ministers. We aim for consistency, that’s why I returned one of the people who was released – Irina Stonova”, announced Bogdanov. That’s how it became clear that she will again be a deputy minister in his department.

Surprise with the price of electricity

The new minister of the economy indicated that he was surprised by the official authority’s request for an increase in the price of electricity.

“I take it as a challenge. I can’t say who, how, and when he staked it”said Bogdanov.

Bogdanov indicated that he was following a plan as if the government would work for a full term. “There is a very clearly written program that we are supplementing. There are clearly set goals – they are not for nine months, but quarterly”he added.

According to Bogdanov, one of the main things that should happen in the first 3 months is cooperation between institutions. Investment growth is also key because, he explained, it is a mechanism against inflation. Dialogue with business is also a priority.
