Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Even though 5G already exists in Indonesia, it is not yet supported by the existence of mobile phones that are supported by the network. Even the Minister of Communications and Informatics, Johnny Plate, asked smartphone vendors to increase 5G cellphones in the country.
For information, in Indonesia there are already three operators that have 5G commercial operational permits. But it turns out that not many smartphones are able to use the network.
According to Johnny, until now there are only 32 types of gadgets available in Indonesia. He asked the gadget manufacturer to open the network software.
“For that I ask for strong support, not only from cellular operators but also the 5G ecosystem. This includes handheld and software manufacturers to immediately open the software,” said Johnny, quoted from the Youtube channel of Kemkominfo TV, Tuesday (25/1/2022).
With the presence of supports such as 5G gadgets, people can enjoy the experience of using these network services on all devices. But unfortunately, according to Johnny this has not been realized.
“I was given a new report that 32 types of handhelds have been certified as eligible for 5G. There are still well-known brands that still need to open their software to make it possible to also receive 5G signal services,” he explained.
On the same occasion, Johnny explained that his party is currently farming and refarming the frequency spectrum. That way it can improve its designation, namely for telecommunications, satellites and other needs.
“Don’t mix it up and make the frequency spectrum management inefficient,” he said.
