Jakarta –
Minister of Agriculture (Minister of Agriculture) Syahrul Yasin Limpo meets President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Presidential Palace, Central Jakarta. Syahrul reports regarding the rice harvest process in Indonesia.
“So we report to Mr. President that from February to March the main harvest processes have taken place in all regions. Even data from our BPS says that for February alone there are approximately 1 million hectares and then it will be harvested and in March it will be 1.9 million, that’s the start of the main harvest,” Syahrul told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Friday (17/2/2023).
Syahrul said the peak of the rice harvest would be around the beginning of March. He hopes that the peak of the rice harvest can be maximally absorbed by consumer interests.
“Earlier the president said, when is the peak of the harvest, yes around the beginning of the first week, the second week of March it starts to enter the peaks of the existing harvest. And of course we hope that this absorption can be optimally carried out by the interests our consumers,” said Syahrul.
Regarding the price of rice, Syahrul said that it was up to the traders. But he hopes the price of rice will not drop too much for the benefit of farmers.
“I have a matter of availability, of course this will return to the traders. And yes, we hope, of course, that the price should not go down too much because this is related to the interests of farmers, but it shouldn’t be too high either. This is what we need to normalize or normalize for all parties. for all to do,” said Syahrul.
