Producers of table potatoes, shellfish and mushrooms will receive de minimis support
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev reached agreement with branch organizations on their requests. This happened during a meeting today at the Ministry with representatives of 5 organizations: the chairman of the Association “United Agricultural Producers” Vencislav Mitkov, the chairman of the National Association of Potato Growers Todor Dzhikov, the chairman of the National Association of Shell Fruit Producers and Processors Ilias Sarnuk, the chairman of the Union of Mushroom Growers in Bulgaria Iliyana Dimitrova and a representative of the Breeding Union of Bulgarian sheep and goats Ventsislav Evgeniev. The Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Food Alexander Yotsev and Associate Professor Deyan Stratev took part in the talks.
At the meeting, the demands formulated in 12 points were discussed, on which an agreement was reached and an agreement will be drawn up. For their part, representatives of the associations stated that they are stopping the protests until the document is signed.
Minister Vatev announced that the producers of mushrooms, nuts and table potatoes will be included to assist with de minimis. He added that the farmers who the analyzes show are in need will be assisted, as the de minimis instrument is for assistance in crisis situations. “These crops are not included in the Ukrainian aid and for this reason they will be supported under de minimis”, pointed out Minister Vatev.
The rest of their demands were also discussed at the meeting that took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. It is planned to create working groups for policies in agriculture regarding regionalization in the country, in relation to the climate-soil map of Bulgaria, as well as for analyzes and recommendations under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas 2023-2027.
