The game was not easy, but in the end it goes on. Are you satisfied?
Typical cup match, it was difficult to work on the result. The first half was not according to our expectations, but in the back we were attentive to a situation. I am more concerned about the chances when the opponent opened the door and could draw at 1: 1. It would be difficult for us to recover. We have come for progress, we have succeeded. Velvary tormented Slavia last year, this year he eliminated Pardubice, so I think it’s a good result.
However, the Velvar have created more opportunities. Did you expect your defense to be under pressure so many times?
We played with three defenders. We have given space to the stopper Patrik Měkot of the juniors, so the collaboration has not yet been like that. This could be why the Velvary has created so many possibilities.
You mentioned 18 year old Měkota, then Martin Hrubý, who was the same age, was in goal. Did they please you?
Yes. Měkota presented himself very well, he didn’t make a significant mistake, he defended him honestly and he played in a simple way, as I want from the stoppers. I am satisfied with the performance of both.
However, there have been many more changes compared to the league match with Slovácko.
They changed the entire lineup except two players. Everyone who was here today are full members of the league squad, so there’s no reason to be afraid to use them in such a game. They left the right things, even though they may never have played a match with this lineup before. There have been mistakes that we will talk about and evaluate. But let’s move on.
It goes further, specifically to the championship against Pilsen, unexpectedly eliminated in the cup with Hlučín. What do you expect from the match against the leader of the standings?
They are out, it will be a disappointment for them, but they have an inflated schedule and some players have been injured. We will not be favorites, but we are encouraged by the recent results. We are preparing and I believe we will choose good tactics. Maybe we can get something.
You replaced Pavel Vrba in Baník just a few days ago, you won two games. How are you doing with the cabin?
I have no problems getting along with the team, I don’t know how the players fare with me. I pay attention to the emphasis and honesty, which was there today and in the first match with Slovácko. I hope we will continue like this and improve the gameplay even more.
A little village atmosphere met you in Velvary, did you like the duel?
I am a boy from the village, so yes, I enjoy it. It includes sausage and beer, so I didn’t have it, there’s no room for that. But yeah, we had some fun, even though I was mainly focused on the team. But as I said, the game didn’t develop easily and I was definitely nervous.
