The million-dollar gift that Harry of England will receive for his 40th birthday

Prince Harry of England turns 40 on September 15. The wayward son of King Charles III, self-exiled in California, and in the news after learning how well his wife, Meghan Markle, speaks Spanish, will receive an important gift on the occasion of this important date. It will be an inheritance that will belong to her at the express wish of her great-grandmother, the late Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, queen consort during the reign of George VI, who acceded to the throne against all odds when her older brother, the heir, Edward VIII, renounced the throne for love to marry Wallis Simpson.

Harry of England will receive the last part of the millionaire inheritance from his paternal great-grandmother, the Queen Mother

The paternal great-grandmother of Harry of England, one of the most beloved members of the British royal family, knew of the difficult situation experienced by second-borns in monarchies, a problem that her own great-grandson complained about in his autobiography, and which also affected Princess Margaret, as well described in the series ‘The Windsors’. For this reason, long before her death in 2002, the late queen was busy thinking about Harry’s future. According to the newspaper ‘Tatler’, on these dates, coinciding with his 40th birthday, Meghan Markle’s husband could receive the last part of the inheritance that remains to be received from the total that his grandmother left him. We are talking about about 20 million pounds sterling, which at the current exchange rate amounts to almost 24 million euros.

In 1994, the then Queen Mother left everything tied up and well tied up to ensure that her inheritance would arrive with the lowest possible tax burden. She set up a trust to which she transferred £19m, Vanity Fair reports. That money has not been devalued, quite the opposite. It is not just Harry who will receive a significant amount, but also his brother William, as well as Princess Anne’s children Peter and Zara; and also Andrew’s daughters Beatrice and Eugenie. She also did not forget Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon’s children, Viscount Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto. The children of Edward, Duke of Wessex, Louise and James were not born when the Queen Mother died.

Harry already inherited from his mother, Lady Di, and his grandfather, the Duke of Edinburgh.

It was agreed that the inheritance would be divided into two instalments for the heirs, one upon reaching the age of 40, as is the case for Harry on 15 September. In order for the sums bequeathed to be exempt from taxes, being considered a kind of life insurance, a requirement had to be met, which the long-lived sovereign met. It had to survive seven years after the contract was signed. According to ‘Tatler’ it is estimated that both William and Harry received six million euros each, but now with the accumulated interest of the trust and its revaluation it is estimated that Harry would receive no more and no less than 20 million pounds this September. It is speculated that the Queen has been more generous with Harry than with William, who as heir to the Crown, would always have more income.

Nothing suggested that Harry would need the money as much as he did now. Her move to the United States has greatly reduced her fortune, as she has to pay for her own and her family’s private security, even when she visits London, as a court ruled against her. Thanks to the 10 million pounds she received from Diana’s inheritance, she can afford to live in Montecito, California, one of the most expensive areas in the world. It is not known how much was left to her by her grandfather, Philip of Edinburgh, who died at the age of 99.
