New York, Feb. 25 The Mexican rock band Enjambre began their new tour of the United States this Saturday in New York with a concert that filled the capacity and caused a furor among their followers, who jumped and chanted their songs from start to finish.

Rafael Navejas, the band’s vocalist and bassist, explained to EFE before the Sounds of Brazil (SOBs) show that touring the country from coast to coast at the end of winter, as they have already done on two previous tours, “is becoming a tradition” that “feeds them a lot”.

And this was reflected in a night in which the connection with the public was palpable, almost all of them Mexican residents of the Big Apple: they knew all the lyrics, they asked for certain songs, they recorded everything on their cell phones and one even ventured up on stage. spontaneously.

There was a review of his entire discography, which began with more recent songs such as “Divergencia” and “Relámpago”, from his 2020 album “Prójimos próximos”, and went back in time with an increasingly passionate reception, like the one that enjoyed “Dulce Soledad” (2010).

Although without a doubt the most anticipated song, and insistently requested, was “Espalda de bronce” (2008), with which they said goodbye after making three threats to leave and assuring those present that they bring “progress” to the United States. US: “We’re all so proud of you,” they said.

The five musicians -three of them brothers- gave their all on stage, a reflection of a stage of “tranquility” in which brotherly love prevails, which is “what has kept us together and with the desire to continue composing,” he said. ships.

Enjambre comes from one of the most intense years of their career, with 45 dates in Mexico, including several in the capital in which they sold all the tickets, and another 21 in the US, among others, but the group missed the stages and starts with “supercharged batteries”.

And it is that, as Navejas explained, that of a musician is “the best job in the world” and the “peak”, precisely, is to perform live, connect with the public and “feel alive”.

As the great historical exponents of rock are usually from the United States and England, he commented, the fact of being a band that comes playing this genre from Mexico, in front of the usual regional representatives, gives a certain “pride” to its followers, he ventured.

And that is particularly felt when performing in the US, where he observes that “there is a certain pride in saying: look, in Mexico there is also art rock, proposal, of good quality, with strong and artistic content beyond what is business,” he reflected.

After the ten dates of this tour, which culminate on March 12 in El Paso (Texas), Enjambre will head to the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City, where they will perform in primetime sharing the bill with big names like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Alt-J. EFE
