The Mexican Vaccination Association prepares applications for the next six-year term – Indigo Report

The Mexican Vaccination Society (AMV) provided the document “Recommendations for vaccination in Mexico” which will be presented to the transition team of the next government of the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum; this, with the aim of research best cold equipment until the vaccines they are not thrown away and therefore have greater access to the territory of​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ as well as wanting more infrastructure in production, distribution and training for vaccination workers; and above all, that there is a better quality in the health of all Mexicans.

Within the framework of the event where the eliminate breast cancer and the prevention of infectious and respiratory diseaseshe Dr. Benjamin Madrigalpresident of the Mexican Vaccination Association, referring to every 100,000 women in Mexico, 14.2 suffer from breast cancer, and the global goal to eliminate this disease is that every country reduce the incidence to less than 4 women for every 100 thousand.

Based on this data, some of the Association’s recommendations to federal and state authorities are that the 90% of girls are fully vaccinated against him human papilloma virus (HPV) before age 15. Coverage of 70% of women that they may receive screening tests of high accuracy before the age of 35 and again at 45. And finally that the 90% of women dog precancerous and/or invasive cancerous lesions get the treatment correspondence.

The actions to fulfill these requests are:

  • Change the quadruple HPV vaccine for the nine-valent vaccine in Mexico’s expanded immunization program.
  • Increase vaccination groups against HPV for women and men from 9 to 25 years of age.
  • Change tests for breast cancer screening in the populationwith high-precision HPV infection detection tests.
  • Increase effective screening coverage cervical cancer, in transgender women and men from 25 to 64 years of age.
  • Secure handling of all people in the country with precancerous and cancerous lesions.

“Everything is possible, as long as you have the right tools. And that tool is a vaccine,” said President Madrigal.

Key members of the AMV also participated in the show, such as Dr. Raúl Romero CabelloAcademic Coordinator; he Dr. Rodrigo Romero Feregrino who is the General Coordinator, and the Dr. Berenice Muñoz CorderoSecretary of the AMV.

Protected children and older adults

Also present at the event was the Dr. Hector Villanueva Clift and the Dr. Leticia Belmont Martínezpresident and vice president of the Mexican Academy of Pediatrics; Aranzazu Alonso Cuevasgeneral coordinator of Contract for Early Childhood and the Dr. Giorgio Alberto Franyuti Kellyexecutive director Medical Effects.

The speakers presented their recommendations for the prevention and control of respiratory diseases, through passive (antibodies) and active (vaccines) vaccines against viral diseases such as influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and SARS-CoV2; in addition to bacterial diseases such as pneumococcus and whooping cough, this is to guarantee protection to Mexican children and older adults, as they are the most vulnerable population to these diseases.

The Mexican Vaccination Association made a respectful call to health authorities, institutions, health workers and society to take the following actions for each disease:

COVID 19:

  • Implementation of comprehensive vaccination schedules COVID 19 in the pediatric population over 6 months of age, and the competent authorities in matters of protection of the rights of girls, boys and teenagers are requested to do what is necessary within the scope of their powers to guaranteed right to health.
  • Approve and administer vaccinations of COVID-19 containing updated variants for use as a vaccination booster from 6 months of age against COVID-19 in our country.
  • Antiviral treatment available for risk groups.

Influenza:

  • Universal use of seasonal influenza vaccinewith priority in people under 5 years of age, pregnant women, people over 50 years of age and all people with comorbidities.
  • Administration of high-dose influenza vaccine for adults over 65 years.
  • Preparing to avoid or reduce the risk of influenza viruses with pandemic potentialwith: epidemiological research in animals and humans, biosecurity measures to prevent and prevent transmission, adequate access and self-sufficiency of vaccines, diagnostic tests and medicines, research, medical education and communication effective.

Respiratory syncytial virus:

  • Application of monoclonal antibodies for RSV prevention in newborns, especially premature ones.
  • Authorization of Nersevimab for use in Mexico.
  • Approval for administration of RSV vaccines during pregnancy for the prevention of the disease in newborns, for use in Mexico.
  • Approval of RSV vaccines for disease prevention lower respiratory tract in older adultsfor use in Mexico.
  • Allow the campaign reforms to the General Health Law in the current legislature (LXV – 2021-2024), approved by the Health Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, so that maternal and child care includes comprehensive care for premature babies, including retinal screening and hearing, as well as specific conditions of vaccination and promotion of the activities necessary for their nutrition to ensure that they grow and develop appropriately.

And pneumococcus:

  • Approval of pneumococcus conjugate vaccines 15 valent and 20 valent for use in Mexico.
  • Application of pneumococcus vaccines to 2, 4, 6 and 12 months oldand applying them to all risk groups such as adults over 60 years, people with co-morbidities and health workers.

Our goal is to reach 90% vaccination coverage for boys and girls“said the coordinator Aranzazu Alonso Cuevas.

While Dr Franyuti from Medical Impact commented: “There should be less politics in medicine and more medicine in politics. We cannot save on vaccination” referring to the aforementioned recommendations and that they hope that the next administration will continue to promote vaccinations so that there are fewer sick people and deaths.
