Will Jacob deGrom leave the New York Mets? The question must arise.
After all, there have been several rumors that the Mets pitcher might sign elsewhere, as that doesn’t always look like a mess in the Big Apple.
I don’t think the Braves, often mentioned in the file, want to put $40 million a year on a pitcher. They don’t need it.
I don’t think he wants to go with the Dodgers, being from Florida and wanting to be as close to home as possible.
I don’t see him going with the Yankees. As long as you sign in New York, it will be with the Mets.
So I have a feeling it will be between the Mets or with the Rangers. And his New York club has the feeling that given the same offer, he would like to stay in the city.
There have been rumors to the contrary in the past. Some panelists believe the pitcher would like to get out of the pressure from New York.
Several guys who have pitched with him, however, are of the opinion that the pitcher wants to stay in town.
Who is right in the end? It’s hard to say now. The file doesn’t evolve quickly – like many others – and the launcher has the right to take its time.
Still, it’s normal for it to get people talking.
