The Mets sweep the Dodgers and tie the series before heading to New York

The New York Mets defeated the Dodgers 3-7 this past Monday in Los Angeles and left the series tied 1-1 National League Championship.

Adding to the big win were Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor, who hit a home run in the early stages, and Dominican Marck Vientos, who hit a big catch with his bat.

The best-of-seven series moves this Wednesday to Citi Field in New York.

Left-hander Sean Manaea (2-0) earned the win after pitching five innings of three runs, one of which was earned. In addition, he struck out seven opponents.

After being shut out in the previous game, Lindor hit the ball out of the park in the first inning against starter Ryan Brasier.

The Mets put up a bunch of five runs in the second inning. The first, for a double to left field by Tyrone Taylor that led to Dominican scorer Starling Marte.

With two outs and three players on base, Vientos put the icing on the cake by sending the ball over the center field wall. So the board showed 0-6 which was not appropriate.

The Dodgers scored in the bottom of the fifth when Max Muncy singled off Sean Manaea with a solo homer.

In the sixth, Tommy Edman hit a single to right field to drive in Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernández to make it 3-6.

In the ninth inning, Marte hit a hit up the middle that allowed Pete Alonso to score the seventh run.

Díaz reached the first two batters he faced in the ninth, but was able to strike out Betts, Hernández and Freddie Freeman. So he ended the game and earned the save.

Brasier (1-1) lost the game by allowing a run in one inning pitched.

In all, Vientos drove in four runs, Lindor scored two and drove in one, while Marte scored and drove in another. For the Dodgers, Hernández added one.
