The metropolis of Lyon soon under the trash cans? Garbage collectors on strike since Friday

Will the bins of the metropolis of Lyon end up overflowing? A strike action has been engaged by household waste collection agents since Friday, May 20. Here are the municipalities that will be particularly impacted.

Garbage collection could be disrupted in Cailloux-sur-Saône, Fontaine-sur-Saône, Dardilly, Saint-Cyr-au-Mont d’Or, Écully, Décines, Saint-Priest, Meyzieu, Chassieu, Mions, Jonage, Corbas, Francheville, Sainte -Foy-les-Lyon, Grigny, Saint-Fons, Vénissieux.

Teams mobilized to prevent trash cans from overflowing

The municipalities concerned are in contact with the Métropole which ensures that the teams of the community are mobilized “to ensure, if necessary, the removal of household waste in areas in possible tension”.

As of Wednesday May 25, about a hundred garbage collectors out of the 388 in the metropolis of Lyon are taking part in the movement initiated by the SUD federation since Friday May 20.

Waste collection at Ascension and Pentecost

Greater Lyon took the opportunity to communicate on the collection of household waste for Ascension and Pentecost weekends, which will be staggered.

For Ascension Thursday, May 26, the collection of sorting bins will be carried out only in the following municipalities or sectors:

• Whole municipality: Bron, Chassieu, La Mulatière, Lissieu, Minus, Neuville-sur-Saône, Sathonay-Camp, Jonage Gray bins: Dardilly
• Sectors collected 6 times a week: Caluire-et-Cuire Gray bins: Écully, Rillieux-la-Pape, Vénissieux
• Town center and dense collective housing: Charbonnières-les-Bains, Feyzin, Givors, Marcy-l’Étoile, Oullins, Pierre-Bénite, Saint-Genis-Laval, Saint-Priest Gray bins: Corbas, Décines-Charpieu, Meyzieu, Saint Priest

On the occasion of the PentecostMonday, June 6, here is where the collection of gray bins will be provided:

• Entire municipality: Cailloux-sur-Fontaines, Charly, Lyon, Marcy-l’Etoile, Qunicieux, Rochetaillée-sur-Saône, Saint-Genis-les-Ollières, Saint-Germain-au-Mont d’Or, Tassin-la- Half Moon, Vernaison, Villeurbanne
• In the sectors collected 6 times a week: Bron, Rillieux-la-Pape and Vaulx-en-Velin
• In the city center and dense collective housing: Caluire-et-Cuire, Chassieu, Corbas, Décines-Charpieu, Écully, Francheville, Grigny, Irigny, Meyzieu, Neuville-sur-Saône, Sainte-Foy-les-Lyon, Saint-Fons , Saint-Priest, Vénissieux
