The methodology for calculating core inflation has been changed in Belarus | Society

The methodology for calculating core inflation has changed in Belarus. This follows from resolutions Belstat, published on the National Legal Portal.

In particular, the list of goods and services for which core inflation is calculated has been supplemented with a number of items. They added marshmallows, instant cocoa drink, containers and jars for storing food, and lunch boxes. From industrial goods – socks and knee socks, from stationery – watercolors, gouache, plastic folders for documents and notebooks. The list has added products for cleaning windows, tiles and mold removal, as well as carrying out animal vaccination procedures (including the cost of the vaccine).

However, when calculating inflation, prices for digital cameras and intercom maintenance fees will not be taken into account.

Several more positions have been adjusted. For example, previously the price for a glass of coffee was taken into account; now it is specified that this is the price of a glass of coffee in a fast-food establishment. A similar decision was made with a glass of juice. Canned fish was replaced with canned fish in tomato sauce, and canned delicacy fish (sprats and salmon) were replaced with natural canned food with the addition of oil.

Let us remind you that the set of goods and services by which core inflation is calculated does not include goods and services whose prices are regulated by the Council of Ministers and government agencies, as well as seasonal vegetables and fruits.
