The week has started with stays across large parts of the country. Until Christmas, there will be some precipitation, meteorologist on duty Roar Inge Hansen in Storm tells TV 2.
Despite a little more precipitation in the coming days, the meteorologist can not promise a white Christmas for the whole country.
Hansen says that southern Norway is located in the middle of several low-pressure systems.
– On Christmas Eve, it’s a little uncertain. Most likely there will be some sleet from Bergen and south.
He points out that there will be calm wind conditions, and that the precipitation will come as sleet on the coast and as snow in the interior.
On Christmas Eve, cold air from the north will push south. This will lead to clarification in Western Norway, which will lead to it becoming starry in the evening. In Eastern Norway, it is a little more uncertain, but it will be reasonably good with accommodation and light cloud cover, says Hansen.
He also says that in southern Norway there will be no major changes in the weather on the first and second day of Christmas.
– The wind from the north will spread south. There will be a risk of snow, but mostly in the coastal areas. Eastern Norway is sheltered, and here it will be cold and nice weather.
Worst in the north
In northern Norway and south to Møre og Romsdal, there will be snow showers in the outer areas and cold on Christmas Eve, Hansen says.
– The coast will get a gale, and on Christmas Eve it can blow up to a small storm in northern Norway.
He also states that there will be heavy snow showers.
– Those who are going home for Christmas on Christmas Eve must be a little observant. The weather can present problems for traffic, both in the air, at sea and on land. There will be heavy snow for a long time.
Also in the north, there will be few changes in the weather on the first and second day of Christmas, according to Hansen.
– It will be essentially the same weather. Colder air comes, and that cold air stays all over the country. The difference is that the wind will decrease, but the snow showers will.
Cold temperatures
When it comes to temperatures, the meteorologist says that it will be colder from Christmas Eve.
– In northern Norway, there will be temperatures down to five degrees below zero in the outer regions, and in the inner regions the temperature will be between 10 and 20 degrees below zero, Hansen says.
In southern Norway it is not as cold.
– In Oslo it will be around minus five degrees, while in the areas around Bergen it will be three to five degrees below zero in the evening. The temperatures here will be around zero degrees in the middle of the day. The inner coats will get around minus ten degrees.
