I insist against my principles or habits of abandoning after a while the things that bore or irritate me, to watch the entire series The Messiah. The first chapters left me with strange feelings, of bewilderment, of not understanding several things, of feeling uncomfortable with its twisting, its sophistication and its cruelty. But the talent of its creators was also transparent. My prejudices associated Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo with the moderns. In other words: Vacancy, imposture, fashion, screwing around. But although in that universe there are many pretentious fools, there are very smart, even intelligent, people. They are.
There are quite a few moments in The Messiah, in its aesthetic conception, in its plot and narrative originality, in its alienated characters, who are provided with first-class electricity and restlessness. And things that burden me. I manage to get to the final chapter, which seems bad to me. I do not believe that commune in the mountain of deeply lost people who by ingesting esoteric potions manage to expel the Alien that has corroded their existence. Nor the pilgrimage to India so that the embrace of a healing saint heals your soul. Nor the integration of the teenager who escaped from the family sect into the real world without renouncing her ancient faith. Nor the transformation of the grotesque and oppressive aunt who taught the children into a model of rationality.
There are people who can’t stand this series and others who love it. Apparently, young people identify with her. In any case, it was a very risky production. I am glad that my friend Domingo Corral and his partners, producers of the excellent Antidisturbios y At Fish, They will carry out a complicated bet. And that it has given them so much play and audience. The Javis deserve to be tracked. They are a very exotic species. In the good and the unpleasant. As always, I only talk about my own tastes.
