The message of Peristeris on the highways, the allies of Theodoropoulos and Tseti and the investments of EYDAP – Economic Post – 2024-04-25 06:03:52

The E65

The longest section of the Central Greece Motorway E65, 136 km out of the total 182.1 km, was opened to traffic.

The country’s third alternative vertical road axis was built by TERNA and will be managed and operated by the “Central Road”.

As of yesterday, the southern section Lamia – Xyniada and part of the northern section, namely Trikala – Kalambaka, were opened to traffic. From Kalambaka to Egnatia Odos in Grevena, the project is expected to be delivered towards the end of 2025.

Road safety

default

During the opening ceremony organized yesterday by GEK TERNA and Central Odos in the Othrios tunnel, the president and CEO of the GEK TERNA group, Mr. Giorgos Peristeris, emphasized to the guests who came to visit him another vital contribution not only of the E65 but of highways as a whole: “The construction and operation of highways results in almost zero traffic accidents.”

And indeed with data presented by the CEO of the Central Road Mr. Rodianos Antonakopoulos for the years of operation the results of the Ionian Road (Antirrio – Ioannina) are impressive: In 2007 before the operation of the highway there were 145 traffic accidents and 42 accidents on the road axis . The corresponding numbers for 2018 were 20 and 0!

The local MPs

Present at yesterday’s inauguration event were the relevant Ministers of Infrastructure – Transport and Development, who come from and are elected from the regions of Fthiotida and Trikala. The reason for Mr. Christos Staikouras and Kostas Skrekas.

Other local members of parliament were also invited, and I noticed Mr. Yiannis Oikonomou among others.

All of them happy about the project rushed to greet and chat with the representatives of the regional and local self-government and economy.

Somewhere he caught my ear, a local actor congratulating Mr. Skrekas as in 2014 as the Minister of Development and Competitiveness he had signed the financing of the northern section of the E65… He had also contributed from his position to keep the project alive…

First time

There is always a first time for everything! And the elections of the Business and Industry Association (SEB) could not be an exception! Thus, for the first time in the history of the strongest employers’ association of the Greek market, in the next elections for the nomination of the new administration there will be two candidates! It is certain;

Mr. Spyros Theodoropoulos

Based on the “rite” of the formal – that is, its charter – so far there is a candidate. This is Mr. Spyros Theodoropoulos – for 11 consecutive years vice-president of SEV!

Mrs. Iulia Tseti

The second nomination, of Mrs. Iulia Tseti, was announced by herself at the conference of the Panhellenic Association of Exporters. But he did not present it at yesterday’s BSE board meeting. According to the statute, he has the right to file it ten days before the elections. Well, there’s still time!

Campaign

Sources from her environment, after noting this detail, told me that she “takes the road, leaves the road” and is doing her pre-election campaign. Yes! When I asked which parts of the business world it relies on, I was told that it is primarily Northern Greece – which continues to speak of “the state of Athens”….

The SBE

Let me remind you that years ago and during a period of serious tensions within Xenophon – I don’t want to scratch old wounds – the former Association of Industries of Northern Greece was renamed the Association of Industries of Greece. In other words, he took the first step towards the possible spread of BSE!

Mr. Dimitris Papalexopoulos

Well, it was exactly then that the outgoing president, Mr. Dimitris Papalexopoulos, decided to finally assume the presidency of the association. And so the spirits were appeased….

Region

Now, therefore, Mrs. Tseti seems to have won the support of powerful circles of the business world of Northern Greece. I was also told that apart from the SBE, Mrs. Tseti seems to give special emphasis to the entrepreneurs of the region (Thessaly, Crete, etc.). And in the medium sizes of the industry.

“Deep System”

On the contrary, Mr. Theodoropoulos, self-made and with more than 40 years in the business scene, is an “organic part” of the “deep system” of the BSE. And a selection of Xenophon’s strong “components”. In other words, it is an undisputed favorite. This election looks like a “battle” of the “light brigade” against the “heavy artillery”!

Will he reconsider?

I personally think that until Mrs. Tseti officially announces her candidacy, I will consider that there is a nomination. And I’ll explain it to you right away. If her election campaign – as an “outsider” at least – doesn’t allow her to record a “decent defeat”, I don’t think she will dare to do so herself. In any case, she will think twice and thrice.

Discontents

Because in essence, what she seeks in this case is to gather behind her candidacy, all those members of the BSE, who either consider that they are not being expressed by the current administration, or are dissatisfied for various reasons. They generally think that the management of the association is not so … spacious! Will he succeed?

EYDAP’s investments…

EYDAP is in an investment mood, which is gradually unfolding its not inconsiderable cost investment plan, amounting to 2 billion. euros until 2034.
In this, energy saving and the modernization of Anat’s sewage network occupy a prominent place. Attica.

…they close the cesspools in Anat. Attica

In this context, yesterday, in the presence of the Minister of State, Makis Voridis, the state-of-the-art Sewage Treatment Center of Koropi – Peania was inaugurated, which will serve 100,000 residents, finally bringing the area out of the… medieval age of cesspools.

Extension

With its future expansion plans, the Center will gradually be able to accommodate the additional waste water load of the coastal areas of Saronikos and Kropias, serving, until 2049, 125,000 inhabitants.
