As it had filtered in March,Radio France and Bayard have decided to create an enclosure for children within a joint venture called “La Chouette radio”. The idea is to market the object from September. It will be billed around 80 euros, which the two groups consider “a median market price”. The speaker, called “Merlin”, is aimed at children from 3 to 10 years old with the aim of providing them with secure content, while other audio platforms such as Spotify also offer programs that may not be suitable for them.
Bayard and Radio France are also banking on parents’ desire to reduce their children’s dependence on screens. The two groups, one public and the other 100% owned by the Congregation of the Augustinians of the Assumption, each invest 350,000 euros. The Banque des Territoires (Caisse des Dépôts Group), within the framework of the call for expressions of interest of the future investment program (PIA), is investing 1.4 million euros.
