The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX electric car passed 1,000 km in a real test

The electric sedan concept traveled 1,008 kilometers from Germany to France, leaving 15% left in the battery.

  • Mercedes had an average speed of 87.4 km / h during the trip.
  • The vehicle was accompanied by an independent expert from TÜV Süd.
  • Consumption averaged only 8.7 kWh / 100 km.
  • Vision EQXX excels in propulsion, weight and aerodynamics.

The first automotive novelty of 2022 at the beginning of January was the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX, electric sedan with several exceptional parameters. Among them, the range of 1,000 kilometers on a single charge was particularly interesting. The German carmaker has decided to prove that it is not laboratory fiction. About a successful real vehicle test informed in the press release.

The concept, approved for operation on ordinary roads, completed a journey from Sindelfingen, Germany, to Cassis on the French coast. He crossed the Swiss Alps and the northern part of Italy. He was accompanied by an independent expert from TÜV Süd, who sealed the charging port and supervised the test.

Mercedes drove at a normal pace, averaging 87.4 kilometers per hour. The electric car has developed a maximum of 140 km / h on motorway sections. Nevertheless, he completed the entire journey on a single charge, reaching the finish line after 1,008 kilometers with a balance of 15% in the battery. That could be enough for another 140 km. The roof solar panels contributed to this balance, according to the carmaker they added about 25 km during the trip.

The electric car reached a consumption of only 8.7 kWh / 100 km and thus confirmed its exceptional efficiency in real conditions. This is due to a combination of several features. First of all, a modern propulsion system that can convert up to 95% of electricity into movement. The battery has a capacity of less than 100 kWh.

In addition, the Vision EQXX excels with a relatively low weight of 1,755 kg, but especially with tuned aerodynamics using active elements. Special Bridgestone tires with extremely low rolling resistance also contribute to reducing the concept’s consumption.
