It has been a few weeks since Mercedes-Benz set a record with the Vision EQXX concept in the range of an electric car on a single charge on real roads. It was worth 1008 km and the Alps were on the route, so it was already clear then that the car could go even further on a slightly flatter road.

This happened on June 21-22, on the route from Stuttgart, Germany, to Silverstone, Britain. The driver did not drive with him all the way on the highway all the time, a short distance behind Stuttgart he had to go around the traffic light. There was also the English Channel, which the car crossed the Eurotunnel.

When he reached the finish line in Silverstone, Formula E pilot Nyck de Vries was behind his wheel, who managed 11 laps on the famous British track before the battery ran out.

In total, the car covered 1202 km in 14 hours and 30 minutes of net driving time, consumed an average of 8.3 kWh per 100 km and drove the most with its electronically limited maximum of 140 km / h. The average speed was 83 km / h, so we can say that on the EQXX motorways, traffic was probably not a brake.

The carmaker Mercedes-Benz states in a press release that the air conditioning ran for only eight hours out of the fourteen and a half, while temperatures on the road reached 30 ° C. Whether it is a demonstration of the thermal efficiency of the car’s systems, or an admission that it was hot for the driver to drive as far as possible, and therefore 1202 km is not a completely real-world range, is not clear.
