Mercedes-Benz is a major proponent of electric propulsion, as it is currently rapidly expanding its range of EQ electric models. After medium size SUV EQC and large-scale EQV followed this year compact SUV EQA a EQS flagship. And now there’s another electrical novelty.
It’s called the EQB and it’s an electrical derivative of the GLB family SUV. Also in his case, the car will offer up to three rows of seats, so the possibility of a seven-seater configuration should be one of the sales traps of the novelty.
In any case, the third row of seats remains mainly a solution for children, although it can fit two car seats, but at the same time only people with a height of 1.69 meters. In addition, the second row of seats can be slid in the longitudinal direction at an additional cost, in the range of 140 mm.
For Europe, a single version is planned at the time of launch, the EQB 350 4Matic with unspecified performance, which is to offer a range of up to 419 kilometers according to the WLTP methodology.

Over time, however, the offer is to expand further. Mercedes counts on several derivatives, with front and all-wheel drive. The strongest power will exceed the limit of 200 kW, the minimum should be batteries with a capacity of 66.5 kWh.
The design uses elements from other models of the EQ family, which applies both to the shape of the headlights and the solution of the front mask, and to the taillights connected by a horizontal line.
The Mercedes-Benz EQB will be unveiled at the upcoming Shanghai Motor Show next week. It is in China that the car will be the first to be sold, but this year the EQB will also reach European markets. For Europe, the car will be manufactured at the Kecskemét plant in Hungary. However, it will not start selling in the USA until next year.
