After last year’s modernization of the six-cylinder versions, it was also the turn of the modernization for the V8 models under the hood. But don’t expect anything major.

The eight-cylinder Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and GT 63 S 4Matis + 4-Door models have undergone a light modernization for the 2022 model year, which brings design and technical improvements. So what can customers look forward to?
The first novelty is the modified bow, which was inspired by the top plug-in hybrid version of the GT 63 S E Performance. The intake openings on the sides of the bumper, which are now wider and point more towards the center of the car, have undergone a change. In addition, three vertical blinds help to direct the air flowing to the radiators.

Another novelty in terms of design is the expansion of individualization options. For example, the range of colors has grown by several shades, so customers can now choose from four matt varnishes, four metallic varnishes and two basic colors. Some colors are newly taken from last year’s rejuvenated models with V6 engines.
In addition, the offer has also expanded by two exclusive colors for the Editions offer: Green Light Magno and Manufaktur Rubellite Red Metalic. Both special versions promise different details that make the specific position and character of the car stand out. In addition, offer 21 “forged AMG wheels in the underbody.

However, the interior, which offers new combinations of colors and paneling, was not left out of the spotlight either. Thanks to the Manufaktur program, customers can enjoy Nappa leather with diamond stitching, a two-color AMG Performance steering wheel or special carpets with an embroidered AMG logo. In addition, the possibilities for individualization should be further expanded in the coming years.
Technical improvements are brought by the AMG Ride Control + chassis system, which is standard for both GT 63 and GT 63 S versions. The system works with electronically adjustable dampers and their internal valves, the setting of which can be adjusted within milliseconds for each wheel, depending on the situation.

The system selects the appropriate settings according to the driving information, ie the movement of the accelerator and the data from the shock absorbers. However, its settings can be further adjusted both via the driving mode selector and via a special button, thanks to which the system should offer greater comfort and even sharper driving.
But nothing has changed under the hood. Both cars are still powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo supercharged eight-cylinder fork, which in the basic version of the GT 63 offers the highest output of 430 kW and 800 Nm of torque. The more powerful GT 63 S version then offers 470 kW and 900 Nm of torque.
Finally, the modernized Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and 63 S 4Matic + 4-Door models will arrive in European showrooms during the beginning of next month.
