The Country declares itself aware that the current psychiatric hospital “does not fully meet the needs”, which is why this new structure will support the existing system.
Extend the care of adults suffering from psychiatric disorders, install a psychiatric care system for children and adolescents, set up an early medico-social assistance center with 25 places, but also install a care system in toxicology and addictology. These are the main objectives pursued by the future mental health center currently under construction in the immediate vicinity of the Taaone Hospital Center.
“It is true that the site was almost a year late because of the quality of the soil, a problem that we had already encountered during the construction of the hospital next door” explained Thursday the President of the Country during a site visit in the presence of its ministers of health, Jacques Raynal, finance, Teiva Raffin and equipment, René Temeharo. “Overall, the objectives will be achieved. Delivery will take place around October 2022. The shell will probably be completed around the end of April, and all of the second trades will follow ”. Edouard Fritch said he remained very attentive to the financial envelope since the cost is totally borne by the Country. “Unless there is any surprise, we will finish with the initial estimated costs, ie four billion francs for the entire operation,” announced the chief executive.
The project includes a crisis center for adolescents
The Country declares itself aware that the current psychiatric hospital “does not fully meet the needs”, which is why this new structure will support the existing system. The mental health center will ultimately represent a total of 38 beds and 110 places for 3,700 m2 of floor space.
Adult psychiatry will be reinforced by a new semi-open hospital unit with 20 beds, as well as by a part-time therapeutic reception center (CATTP) with 10 places.
For the youngest, the psychiatric care system provides a crisis center for adolescents with 6 beds and a medico-psychological center (CMP) for children and adolescents. Not to mention a part-time therapeutic reception center (CATTP) with 25 places and a day hospital for children, and finally a CATTP and day hospital for teenagers with 10 places each. The Ministry of Health plans to add an early medico-social assistance center (CAMSP) with 25 places.
The toxicology care system should allow consultations and part-time outpatient care with a capacity of 20 places, as well as a medium-stay hospitalization unit with 12 beds. The operation, led by Grands Projets de Polynesésie (GPP), provides for a budgetary landing estimated at + 3% of the estimated overall cost for 2012.
