The 2021 Edition of the UEFA Champions League in the men’s branch will play its defining game in Porto, Portugal, as confirmed by the organizing body this Thursday.
UEFA, given the situation of COVID-19 in Europe and with the restrictions established in Turkey, the first finalist postulate, it was decided to bet again on the Portuguese country, but unlike 2020, it will be in Porto and not in its capital Lisbon.
Portugal, once again receives the final of “la orejona”
Due to the high circulation of the coronavirus and the restrictions that exist in Turkey for English citizens, UEFA decided to change the final of the Champions League in order to guarantee the presence of at least 12 thousand fans in the stadium.
In this way, the momentous meeting will once again be elusive for Istanbul for the second consecutive year and, also for the second year in a row, the Orejona will be raised in Portugal.
On this occasion, Lisbon will not be the venue for the definition, but Porto will be, as designated by UEFA, the organizer of the competition. Precisely, the Stadium that will host the duel between Manchester City and Chelsea will be the “Do Dragão” home of the city’s homonymous club.
Thus, this will allow some 6000 citizens and 6000 blues fans to be present in the final of “la orejona” in the male branch.
It is worth noting that England had Turkey on its list of countries to which it advises against traveling, which means that any citizen who returns from there would be subjected to a ten-day quarantine upon return.
Wembley Stadium was not chosen since the British Government, despite promoting that stadium, did not end up accepting quarantine exceptions so that journalists, sponsors and other commitments could be in the final.
In this way, Portugal, which is on the list of countries with the “green light” of England, was chosen to be the venue and there will be at least 12 thousand fans, plus the press, more protocols, one could speak of a final with a mark close to 15 or 18 thousand people.
