A “Members’ Movement” in favor of Stefanos Kasselakis is being created in SYRIZA. In fact, a related text – declaration – is being circulated, which has so far gathered hundreds of signatures (more than 800 according to information) from members of the party all over Greece.
“So we, the members of SYRIZA-PS, decide to take the party into our own hands by calling on the tens of thousands of members to thicken the lines of our movement” it says.
“A “Members’ Movement” without patrons away from party barons. A movement that even now, at the last moment, should actively trust the leadership, make it the vanguard of the project and bridge its distance from the organized base of the party so that it does not remain an easy prey to the moods of the party establishment and its subversives! A truly members’ movement!”

“We can no longer stand idly by, seeing specific executives and groups within our party who, in close cooperation with the party bureaucracy, are methodically gnawing away at both President Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis and the very project of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, for which we have put up a huge fight since 2012” is characteristically mentioned in the text and continues:
“We can no longer tolerate the systematic circumvention of collective decisions by the organizational leadership (as recently with the decision of the KE on the time of establishment and the composition of the KOES) whose sole aim is to brake (if not to sabotage) democratic developments and changes in party, against the moods of the vast majority of its members and friends.
The attempt to reduce and discredit the party, the President and executives with huge battles against the neoliberal policies of the Mitsotakis Government, which has been attempted lately by circles – unfortunately – within SYRIZA-PS is opposed by the tens of thousands of outraged members of the party”.

“We the members of SYRIZA-PS
We who have seen our desires and our decisions for a great party of the governing Left that will include society be postponed continuously
We who fought all these years for the big changes in our party which were never completed on the altar of compromises with mechanisms of ambitions of factions and persons
We who voted for and support President Stefanos Kasselakis as the new hope for big changes both in the party and in our country
We who believe that the vision of the Modern Left and the great Progressive Democratic Party can and must be realized through SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance can no longer stay with folded hands seeing specific executives and groups within our party who in friendly cooperation with party bureaucracy are methodically gnawing at both the President Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis and the very project of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, for which we have fought a huge fight since 2012.

A party that the top of the party pyramid will lower to be near the base.
A party open to society where the base will be heard on all issues.
A party without bureaucracy that will be made up of cadres drawn from the social fabric. Where executive and member will have the same rights and will walk hand-in-hand working within society to succeed in winning the relations of power.
A party of the Ruling Left, powerful that will express all Progressive Democratic citizens.
A party that will hold up its Left, Progressive identity by defending the interests of the many with truth and honesty.
A party that will derive ideas for its strategic planning through fermentation with members and society. Where he will be there to express the needs without losing his focus which is none other than the dignity of the citizens.
A party with cohesion and homogeneity. With real political unity and not unity for unity’s sake. A party that will end up in a political position and follow a political line that will stand on two axes: to fight neoliberal policies and to be able to propose realistic solutions that will favor society.
A party that will redefine its relations with the structures of society such as public administration, trade union movement and local self-government.
A party of the Patriotic Left that respects international treaties and fights for the National independence and sovereign rights of our Country.
From now on we will have to inspire and persuade to become attractive again to the groaning society, we must describe in a way that everyone can understand exactly what the poorest, the excluded and usually the strata/victims (such as the middle ) of this place.
We must make it clear to the many, that if tomorrow they entrust us with the steering of the country and their fortunes, they should, for example, know from now on…:
If workers’ income will be enough for a “better life”. If they will have a collective agreement and labor rights
If the “honoured old age” of our country will be able to have a decent living and not cut off pensions
Whether patients will find satisfactory and free care in the Health system
If scientists will be paid decently in the public and labor market
If the high school students will also have the suffering of the national schools and if their parents will be forced to attend tutoring schools and special ones, at the expense of the quality of life of the entire family, but also at the expense of the good of parenthood itself
If the small and medium-sized enterprises will have their chance in financing from the banks
If there will be an end to the dishonesty of the banks, the theft of the people’s wealth, bad loans, as opposed to scandalous gift arrangements and favoritism to the elites, government officials and their friends, the paid “guns” of the media (eg First Topic ) and all sorts of scammers
If we are to take advantage of the great potential of the region and the farmers that we must rely on for productive reconstruction.
If immigrants who are here as laborers and farm hands, will ensure survival, education and the right of naturalization of their children
If Justice will be delivered quickly and efficiently and will not “caress” the corrupt elites while “biting” the barefoot
If public goods, energy, water etc. will remain public and affordable for all
If civilized people will manage to create free with dignity and safety
On top of all this, and even more, we should work so as to draw up a realistic and fully understandable government program so that SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance returns to the Government and gives breath to all these social strata that are being strangled by the harsh neoliberal policy of the Mitsotakis Government.
A program that will give back to the People the right to happiness that has been denied for decades.
This party that we will build together comes from afar and looks to the future.
Will it be confrontational? Yes. Because it has a history. The history of the Left in the field, in the workplace, on the street, in parliament.
A party that will respect the historical memory of those who fought and gave their lives for democracy. Which will stand as a shield and breakwater in front of executives, members and friends who will fight the battle. To follow many more battles and many victories until the final.
So we, the members of SYRIZA-PS, decide to take the party into our own hands by calling on the tens of thousands of members to thicken the lines of our movement.
