The Mef report: “Giorgetti’s fake profiles have multiplied since 2023, all of them now closed”

Between the PSB and the future budget law, the Mef is also dealing with the phenomenon of false profiles of the Minister of Economy Giancarlo Giorgettiprotagonist yesterday of a scene at an event organized by Popolare di Sondrio, with a businesswoman who ‘accused’ him of never responding on Facebook. It’s a shame, however, that Minister Giorgetti doesn’t have a profile on that social network.

From the ministry they let it be known, as reported by Adnkronos, that since the end of 2023 “false profiles have multiplied”. And since it is the accounting department, there is certainly no shortage of counts made on this phenomenon: on Facebook they have been well identified 35 fake profiles, complete with two videos generated by artificial intelligence with the minister inviting people to make investments. Three profiles were discovered on Linkedin, while only one was found on the social network X, the same number that emerges from Telegram Nel during 2024, the Mef explains further, “we have made three other reports” and, in any case, “the fake profiles have always been closed”.

The curtain between Giorgetti and the businesswoman

Last night’s curtain call at the Banca Popolare di Sondrio between the Minister of Economy and an entrepreneur takes courage and points the finger at bureaucracy and hyper-regulation. “Minister, I always write to you on Facebook”, says the woman. Giorgetti, amused, replies: “Ma’am, I don’t know how you can talk to me, I don’t have Facebook!”. The minister reveals the secret: “It’s full of fake profiles of mine. They use my image, my voice with artificial intelligence to advertise absurd financial products. Many friends write to me: ‘What have you started doing?'” . The audience laughs, he jokes. “The complaints start, but I don’t know, they will go to Wisconsin or who knows where. But they don’t produce any results.” Before concluding, Giorgetti turns again to the businesswoman, joking: “Anyway, I’ll explain to her how to talk to me without using those profiles on Facebook. I don’t know what those people there will answer, I wouldn’t want them to have said something strange to her.” The businesswoman says they don’t answer: “Ah, they don’t answer? Well, that’s already lucky!”, replies Giorgetti.
