The CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS announces the temporary closure of the medical unit of the Val-des-Sources hospital, which has 13 beds. This decision, which is effective as of today, would be linked to the issues of labor shortage. The unit will be closed until next September. People who present to the emergency room and whose state of health requires hospitalization will be transferred to a hospital in Sherbrooke to receive the care they need.
The emergency department of the hospital located in Val-des-Sources remains open according to the usual schedule. A user whose condition requires urgent care should not hesitate to go there. The deputy director of nursing, regrouping of hospitalized clienteles, Martin Bouchard, specified that until now, it had been possible to maintain activities despite limited resources. However, the team had to proceed with this temporary closure in order to preserve the quality and safety of care.
