One out of two general practitioners works between 50 and 60 hours per week. A rhythm that many young practitioners refuse to adopt. The medical desert threatens.
Par Pascal Martin
TFinding a general practitioner is definitely not easy. The difficulties that certain rural areas have in attracting new doctors reflect a cruel paradox, that which sees a society claiming well-being and health but is reluctant to give itself the means of its ambitions.
Is it serious doctor ? There should be an improvement, but not before 2029. That year, a new quota of general practitioners will be set to best meet the needs of the population. The Federal Minister of Health, the socialist Frank Vandenbroucke, explains in the meantime that these practitioners are overwhelmed and that their situation must be taken seriously.
