The artist chose this epithet not by chance.
The composition of Mikhail Boyarsky “Green-eyed Taxi” became a real hit in the late 80s, when the musician first presented it to the public. Millions of fans sang along to the melancholic composition, and the current generation also confesses their love to her. At the same time, not everyone guesses what the lines of the song’s refrain are due to.
The fact is that the “green-eyed” taxi at Boyarsky was far from just like that. In Soviet times, cab drivers used a special signal to notify passengers that they were free. And if pedestrians saw that a green light was on on the windshield of the car, they knew that the car could be safely “caught”.
Over time, taxi drivers abandoned this identification mark. Now the famous green light bulb is no longer to be found on the roads, and mentions of it remain only in the song beloved by the public.
