Mazda has boasted a further evolution of its unique SkyActiv X engine in its domestic Japanese market, which combines the advantages of petrol and diesel engines thanks to a special SPCCI ignition system. In the new version, however, the electric motor also helps him.
The new e-SkyActiv X mild hybrid has undergone several minor modifications, including optimization of the combustion process and improved suction. The biggest novelty, however, is the addition of a 24V synchronous electric motor.

Unfortunately, we do not have the exact parameters of the new drive system, including the capacity of the battery and its location. However, according to overseas colleagues, the performance of the Mazda 3 with the e-SkyActiv X mild hybrid should shift from 132 kW and 224 Nm of torque to 140 kW and 240 Nm of torque.
In addition to an improved powertrain, the Mazda 3 is expected to receive improved springs and shock absorbers across the 2021 model line in the Japanese market. Technicians should also adjust the operation of adaptive cruise control to better suit driver needs. The CST (Crising & Traffic Support) system should then work at a higher operating speed.

The new mild-hybrid engine, which, like many improvements, will be available in the 2021 model version, should be available only for the Mazda 3 in the Japanese market for the time being. Both in the hatchback and isedan versions. Whether the news will reach other world markets, including the European one, Mazda has yet to announce.
