The communal vows of the past years were a moment of strong exchange for the commune. With the health crisis, the mayor, Gwénolé Guyomarc’h, chose Saturday, January 9, to send his wishes to his fellow citizens, live via Facebook live. It was thus able to provide information on 2020 figures and 2021 projects.
A growing population boosted by covid
The 23 deaths and only seven births – stable figures compared to 2019 – have not prevented the population from increasing by 2.2% per year for 5 years. The town is attractive with 44 building permit applications (42 in 2019 and 35 in 2018). The population is gradually increasing and thus allows the integration of new residents. And without being able to quantify them, 2020 saw the installation of new families partly linked to the health crisis. The increase in primary school enrollment from 84 to 95 students confirms this.
A year full of challenges
In 2021, many projects will occupy the elected representatives: the rehabilitation of the presbytery so that it becomes a place of life which will combine economic (coworking) and associative life; consultation on the semi-pedestrian port project which is underway with residents and traders; securing the RD64 in conjunction with the Department, which will allow pedestrian and cyclist traffic to be taken into account and the fiber installation site which is also entering its active phase. These large projects will not prevent the town from taking care of the maintenance of the roads, hiking trails … In partnership with Morlaix Co and Guimaëc, it will participate in the rehabilitation of the Le Pontelou and Le Lapic rivers which flow into the Moulin de la Rive.
The mayor ended his speech by thanking all those who mobilized in 2020 to provide masks and comfort.
