Maurice Labeaume’s fight against the disease lasted almost 9 months, whileit should not exceed three
, writes his son.
In a sober word that takes the form of a poem, Régis Labeaume delivers a sensitive tribute to his father, a man with whom he has had a difficult relationship throughout his life. It was only at the end of the latter, writes the mayor, that the father and the son learned to tame themselves.
He and I experienced a classic.
I discovered it at 86 years old.
He died at 86 years old.
Two existences, a great silence.
Until recently.
Despite the disease that won the battle, Maurice Labeaume remained awake until his last breath.
He saw everything from his downfall, he heard everything, wrote his son. It has increased the evil tenfold.
Last winter, Régis Labeaume was absent from the town hall to stay at his father’s bedside as a natural caregiver.
He has repeatedly expressed admiration for those who, like him at the time, devoted themselves to supporting loved ones in the illness.
We don’t know if the mayor, who himself had to defeat cancer last year, will be away for a few days this week to live through her grief.
RIP p’pa.
You were so brave.
Your life.
Kiss mom,

Your three survivors:
The American, the Canadian radio and the mayor.
