the mayor of Pernik and 50 others (for now) are leaving (Overview)

The deputy head of the party Atanas Zafirov: Clientelists, and Vladimirov is the favorite mayor of Boyko Borisov

Just 36 hours after the red congress excluded 14 socialists headed by Kiril Dobrev, and 200 delegates demonstratively left the forum, the swarming in the party began. Moreover, from the iconic left-wing mayor of Pernik, Stanislav Vladimirov, whose views have long diverged from the official “Positano”.

Together with him, 50 socialists from the Pernik organization are leaving the BSP. On Monday, the chairmen of the regional and municipal councils of the BSP there, the youth leaders, left-wing mayors of populated areas – almost the entire leadership of the party in the region – also threw away their party cards. Moreover, on the eve of the parliamentary vote and the local elections this fall.

Their act is a sign of solidarity with the illegal and unconstitutional exclusion of delegates from the congress on Saturday. Among them was the head of the municipal councilors in Pernik, Ralitsa Andreeva, and the chief secretary of the municipality, Martin Zhlyabinkov.

“This is not my party. I can no longer participate in this”.

mayor Vladimirov was laconic. He is particularly popular in the city after he hastily dealt with the water crisis, finding a way to a dialogue with then Prime Minister Boyko Borisov. He stood next to the citizens in their protest against the procurator’s son, and this provoked the quick arrest of the young man, he was fine. He was also in the field during the search for the little autistic Sashko, who survived a week in the forest.

Already months ago, Vladimirov left the National Council of the BSP as a sign of disagreement with the decisions of the party leadership.

With the same words – “This is no longer my party”, Angel Naydenov left BSP the evening after the congress.

“Clientelism is leaving the BSP after it failed to fulfill the task of taking control of the party, changing the leadership and the chairman and turning the BSP into an obedient and comfortable party.” With these words, the deputy chairman of the BSP, Atanas Zafirov, commented on the act of the Pernika red organization.

Ninova’s deputy added that she had “turned herself into an appendage of the municipal administration”, which once again signaled the accumulated annoyance of “Positano” for the whole term from the activity of Mayor Vladimirov, who is (unofficially) approved by both GERB and the other political opponents of the BSP. Yesterday, Zafirov even called Vladimirov “boyko Borisov’s favorite mayor”.

According to the deputy chairman of the BSP, the departure

was the beginning of a healing process

“These people have not felt part of the BSP for a long time. They do not work for the BSP, the last elections show that, where it is clear that they worked for other forces”, he accused.

In the parliamentary vote in October, as elsewhere in the country, the results of the BSP in the district fell and the centenarian remained the fifth force in the parliament with only 232,958 votes, or 9.30% of the voters.

The tension between “Positano” and the Pernish structure smoulders due to the fact that in the series of elections it did not get a local leader of the list – the leadership sent Alexander Simov or Stoyan Mirchev. At the vote in October, however, the Executive Bureau decided to give Lubomir Bonev, who was already a deputy, a chance, but he refused. Thus, Alexander Simov led the list again, moved from the leading position in Vratsa, but he was unable to fight for a deputy seat.

Now Zafirov urged the BSP leavers

to also leave the posts to which they were elected thanks to the party

“The BSP is not a lapel pin that you can pin on your lapel only if you’re interested in it,” he said. And he assured that there were no signals for other party structures to leave.

However, one of the excluded – Perniška municipal councilor Ralitsa Andreeva, warned that there are more to come.

“It was seen that this circle, called leadership, could not shut us out like the people. I will take the matter to court and again get a decision in the name of the people. I have one for my illegal dismissal as an expert on “Positano” 20″, she said for “24 hours”. In his complaint, he will refer to the current statute, he will also attach footage from the party television, from which it was seen that the required number of delegates did not actually vote “for”.

After his expulsion last year, Kiril Dobrev, who is Ninova’s fiercest opponent and unsuccessfully ran against her for leader, won his battle in court and he was reinstated as a member of the BSP. However, Congress on Saturday suspended it again.

Meanwhile, 94 delegates to the congress, 7 of whom were not allowed in the hall at all, as well as some of the excluded, demanded an internal party discussion. It was supposed to discuss the real agenda of society and the future of the leftist idea.

Signed by Sergey Stanishev, service ministers Krum Zarkov and Yavor Gechev,

Georgi Pirinski, Petar Mutafchiev, Kaloyan Pargov, Velislava Dureva and many other significant figures for the left.

They do not accept the exclusion of their comrades and call on the municipal and regional organizations not to comply with the “unconstitutional decision of the congress”. “Let the conversation about this take place in the grassroots organizations in which they are members – as provided for in the statute of the BSP. We insist that their rights to participate in the activities of the party not be terminated”, they urge.
