This Friday morning, drug addicts from the Jardin d’Éole and Stalingrad were moved to the edge of Place Auguste Baron, Porte de la Villette. A district near the communes of Aubervilliers and Pantin (both in Seine-Saint-Denis).
The mayor (PS) of Pantin, Bertrand Kern, is (very) angry. The elected Sequano-Dionysian denounced at the beginning of the afternoon the decision of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin – supported by the Paris police prefect – to move drug addicts from the sectors of Jardin d’Éole and Stalingrad ( XIXth arrondissement) in another corner of the capital. The latter were evacuated by the police in buses, direction: the area around Place Auguste Baron, Porte de la Villette, “in a neighborhood without residents in the immediate vicinity“according to the press release from the police headquarters that appeared in the morning.

A “shameful” choice
Bertrand Kern immediately reacted. In a press release, he highlights the “total ignorance“from M. Darmanin concerning the”Parisian geography“. “The chosen location where drug addicts will be installed is in the immediate vicinity of the Quatre Chemin de Pantin and Aubervilliers neighborhoods, one of the poorest neighborhoods in France.“, says the mayor of Pantin.”With this decision, the Minister of the Interior tramples on local elected officials and wipes his feet on Seine-Saint-Denis“, he adds, specifying moreover that Gerald Darmanin has opted for”the worst solution: that of adding misery to misery. This choice testifies to a real incompetence, it is quite simply shameful!“.
Recalling to be “worried about everyone’s safety, residents and drug addicts“the socialist elected”oppose“to this installation and”urgently request a meeting with the Prime Minister so that he can take all the essential health, social and security measures“.
