In New York, some will miss the wonderful dribbling and the hairy finishes Kyrie Irving. Others are especially relieved to have gotten rid of a walking catastrophe on the extra-sporting level. Eric Adamsthe city’s mayor, clearly falls into the second category.
The prospect of no longer seeing him in the jersey of the Brooklyn Nets, but that of the Mavericks, visibly enchants Adams. Interviewed by Spectrum News on this subject, he did not go out of his way.
“I’m going to find the team that beats us the most and send them to that team, because then we’ll start beating that team. It’s all about synergy. It doesn’t matter how much talent you have, your ability to interacting with your colleagues is more important. A player can spoil the synergy of the team”, he says with a big smile.
What if the Nets were better off without Kyrie Irving after all?
The two men already had a liability, linked to New York’s vaccination policy during the 2021-2022 season. The mayor then refused to make Kyrie Irving an exception to allow him to play for the Nets. The situation was, at the time, the object of strong criticism. Opposing teams were, in effect, able to leave their own unvaccinated players on the Brooklyn floor.
This is just one example of the many extra-sporting affairs that have enlivened the city in recent seasons. The departure of the leader thus removes a thorn from the side of Eric Adams.
