POLITICS – His entourage underlines a ” political choice “. While Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin is expected in Lyon on Saturday July 30 to meet the police officers attacked in the La Guillotière district, the city’s EELV mayor, Grégory Doucet, announced this Friday that he will not participate in the shift.

In a press release published on social networks, the green city councilor (who has already crossed swords with the minister on the subject of security) justifies his decision by evoking a broken promise from the Minister of the Interior.

« 300 net national police officers in addition, that was his commitment 2 years ago at my request. This is what we are still waiting for. I will not be present. It’s not a minister we need but more staff “, he laments on Twitter. A post in particular relayed by the deputy EELV Julien Bayoun who deplores the “blabla of the Minister of the Interior”.

Grégory Doucet also attaches to his message a link to an article from France 3, dating from 2020, in which it is a question of the recruitment of 100 additional agents per year for Lyon.

In the morning, the city councilor went there to announce ” a mobilization of resources commensurate with the challenges” in partnership in particular with the services of the State.
