Very consensual atmosphere during the announcement of the candidacy of Olivier Marleix (LR), Friday evening, for a third term as deputy. Christophe Le Dorven (LR) is full of praise for this Eurelian deputy “who is the one who writes the most” to the president of the departmental council and who has “the sense of public service which flows in his veins as in mine”.

Pierre-Frédéric Billet (LR), the mayor of Dreux, whose ties with the outgoing LR deputy are sometimes strained, reaffirms his desire to support him “in the light of a national mandate whose quality is recognized and to preserve the unity of the political family locally in the interest of the territory”.
“Jean-Pierre who?”
Not a word therefore of the letter from Jean-Pierre Gorges, the mayor of Chartres, addressed to the investiture committee of the Republicans, who denounces the behavior “of Mr. Marleix on his constituency”. The main interested party, in a touch of humor, launches: “Jean-Pierre who?” before recalling that the mayor of Chartres “has not been a member of the Republicans for ten years”.

As for Pierre-Frédéric Billet, he is careful not to engage in a debate on the LR investitures in which he does not participate. But he does not want to tarnish his relationship with Jean-Pierre Gorges with whom he has cultivated close ties since the start of his mandate in 2020. “He is a great elected official whose achievements deserve absolute respect”.
Maintain the axis with Chartres
A balancing act for Pierre-Frédéric Billet, faced with the divisions of his political family of the Eurelian right. He cannot afford to isolate himself in the district of Dreux where elected officials such as the president of the Agglo du Pays de Dreux, the departmental councilors… are committed to the cause of Olivier Marleix. But, he must also maintain a certain distance with him so as not to insult the future of Dreux which also passes through a strong axis with Chartres.

This flexibility which borders on “at the same time” is a sign that the mayor of Dreux also takes into account part of his majority close to LREM which has become Renaissance.
