the mayor of Bron will lead the list of Laurent Wauquiez in the Metropolis of Lyon

Jérémie Bréaud has made the fight against delinquency the great fight of his mandate, a sign that the president of the region intends to focus on security.

It’s official since Tuesday: Laurent Wauquiez is a candidate for his own succession at the head of the executive of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. And in the Metropolis of Lyon, it is the mayor Les Républicains de Bron, Jérémie Bréaud, who will lead his list, BFM Lyon learned on Wednesday.

This choice is not a surprise. The question of security, even if the prerogative is not the responsibility of the region, was one of the major axes of the speech delivered by Laurent Wauquiez on Tuesday. The elected representative spoke in turn of Marin’s assault in 2016, the death of Axelle Dorier or even … the threats of beheading suffered by Jérémie Bréaud in the town he leads.

Elected last year, the person concerned made the fight against delinquency the great fight of his mandate. Several times he was the target of projectile throws on the sidelines of movements in the streets of Bron. At the end of February, the municipal vehicle with which he traveled had been degraded. “All these things lead me to live under police protection”, he declared at the end of April at the microphone of BFMTV.

“A fundamental component of the region”

“If we consider that security is essential, then it must be a fundamental component of the region,” insisted Laurent Wauquiez, highlighting his initiatives in this area. “Since taking care of the region, we have spent 160 million euros” to “double the railway police”, “equip the municipal police” or “deploy video surveillance”.

The outgoing president is given the first vote in the first round, according to an Ipsos / Sopra Steria poll published on May 4. The elected would obtain 31% of the votes when his competitor of the National Rally, André Kotarac, would reach only 19%.
